Alaska Thunderfuck, Mario Diaz, and veteran stars of D’Arcy Drollinger‘s hilarious stage show were on hand for the theatrical premiere of Shit & Champagne: The Movie last night at Outfest. If you like over-the-top filth, this is one of the best drag comedies of all time.
For those who have not made the pilgrimage to San Francisco for the amazing stage version, here’s the summary via Outfest:
Champagne White’s stripping career and love life are interrupted by a conspiracy, murder, and a heavy dose of nonsense. Adapted from the popular hit of the San Francisco stage, SHIT & CHAMPAGNE is a cinematic romp and elegantly inelegant homage to the exploitation films of the 1970s. With unmitigated humor, impeccable timing, glorious slapstick, and an all-star cast, SHIT & CHAMPAGNE will leave sides aching and cheeks sore. RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars winner Alaska Thunderfuck is joined by legends like Matthew Martin (“Dixie Stampede”), Steven LeMay (“Brandy”), and more.
Before the film, lucky attendees were treated to the toothless and ruthless dancers from the Shaboom Boom Room, where Champagne plies her trade. Nancy French reprised her role as Debbie (center), the world’s worst stripper, was on hand to celebrate her key role in the mystery at the center of the film.
Before the screening, The Queer Review did a lovely interview with Drollinger:
If you like booty bumps, raunch, drag, the 1970s, lewdness, poop jokes, indecency, bad puns, calf models, vulgarity, and/or affronts to all that is pure and decent, this is the film for you!
