Paris Jackson was called out for appearing on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore because homosexuality is illegal in Singapore, and Paris herself recently came out as bisexual. She has since made an apology of sorts, although that apology has since become the subject of some derision, as well.
i would like to add though that someone that is openly apart of the community being on the cover in a country against the community, should be celebrated. isn’t that a step forward? again, i am deeply sorry. i didn’t mean to be hypocritical or hurt anyone.

i stay at home for a week recovering, recalibrating, in my pajamas watchin cartoons n cuddling my dog, not doing anything wrong… nd people still find ways to write horribly rude mean and hurtful things about me. STILL try to find anything to get mad at me for. #tallpoppysyndrome

Hmmm.
On the one hand, claiming she didn’t know (as she apparently did at first) isn’t really a viable argument in a world where that kind of information is easily Googleable. We hold celebrities accountable for their actions these days, right? On the other hand, if she DID know and decided to go ahead with it anyway, claiming that it was a step forward and should be celebrated, didn’t she have an obligation to… you know… at least TALK ABOUT IT in the magazine? Say that she was bisexual and she was fighting for LGBTQ rights around the world?
I don’t know I love Paris, but feel like this should be cleared up in a different way.
