In a new video from Whirlybird director Matt Yoka, musical group Oog Bogo ponders our “Plastic” world and the superficiality of online existence through the eyes of a bedazzled and sparkly alien.
Oog Bogo shared the idea behind the video, which includes a lovely David Lynch reference:
“Plastic” explores the concept of artificiality, and wondering what that means in a post-pandemic world with social media being our new alternate reality. But “Plastic” is also about feelings of being an imposter, working to become the dancing glitter alien we all share inside.

Yoka added:
I love the twisted danciness of Oog Bogo. The video felt like an opportunity to channel all the wonderfully weird energy and aesthetics of internet video culture, zoom calls, TikTok clips, Instagram reels, etc. into a lone character broadcasting from the blackhole that exists within the dreaded ring light. Hehe.
