One of our favorite people of all time, Marianne Faithfull, the beautiful girlfriend of Mick Jagger in the 1960s and singer in her own right, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The 59-year-old has cancelled her world tour, which was to begin in October, to undergo treatment. Her publicist announced that the disease was discovered in its early stage, and Faithfull said, “I have absolute faith and confidence in my fantastic medical team and of course I will be well again, if not better than ever. Next year’s tour, I want to assure fans, will be one big celebration.” Faithfull’s first hit, 1964’s “As Tears Go By,” was written by Mick and Keith. In 1979, she had a huge club hit with “Why D’ya Do It?” off her Broken English album. (Telegraph)
