RuPaul, Miss Starrbooty herself, was gracious enough to allow me to tag along with her and the cast of Starrbooty to film a behind-the-scenes video for my (somewhat neglected of late) WOW TV channel, Memoirs of a Club Kid. Everyone met up in Philly for the screening of the film at the Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. I rode along with Ru and the cast in the OH-SO-CHIC limo-van that was provided to shuttle us between hotels, theater, and the after-party. I also got to catch a few shots of the cast interviews that were being filmed as bonus features for the fall release of the DVD. At times, I was giggling so hard I couldn’t hold the camera straight. There are some hilarious and sexy appearances by gay porn legends Tom Judson aka Gus Mattox and the “Prince of Porn” Michael Lucas, as well as hunky director Mike Ruiz.
At the end of the night, somewhere around 2AM, all the press finally left. I was about to wrap up my video equipment and call it a night when, much to my surprise, Ru called me over and honored me a live solo a cappella performance of the Starrbooty soundtrack song “Booty Booty Booty.” Even that late at night Ru still looked gorgeous, and she sang beautifully. It really seemed like something just for me, but through the power of video and WOW TV, it can be One Night With Starrbooty just for you too.
