The boys got boo’d last night when “Best Song Ever” won Song of the Summer. To be fair, the song of the summer is really either “Blurred Lines” or “Get Lucky,” we all know that. But the catagory is voted on by fans, and 1D has the most rabid (and organized) fan base this side of the Beliebers, hence the win. And hence the booing. Mother Monster, after initially vaguely dissing the song to her friend (see gifs), went backstage and gave the boys a pep talk. “If I did hear what I heard out there,” she told them, “I just want to tell you that you deserve every bit of success that you have. Don’t you dare let those people boo you.” She went to add that the situation made her want to leave the show because she didn’t want to be a part of an event where people were booing.
