Very exciting news: A treasure trove of nearly 400 diamonds, colored gems, and the finest jewelled objects, swords, and daggers spanning over 500 years of history and sovereign power on the subcontinent of India will be offered in a landmark auction Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence at Christies in New York next week.
What do YOU plan on bidding on? I’m simply mad for the antique diamond bazuband, the gold paizeb, the emerald bead and pearl seed nath, the Art Deco emerald and diamond jigha, and, of COURSE, the emerald and ruby kadas. Mostly because I have no idea WHAT any of those things are, and to paraphrase Lorelei Lee in Gentleman Prefer Blondes: “I ADORE finding new ways to wear gemstones.”
I’m also always on the lookout for wildly expensive jeweled daggers, and this auction has something for every taste.
