Tomorrow marks 5 years that I’ve been writing for The Wow Report and according to the count on the blog, that’s some six thousand two hundred posts. OMG! That’s a lot of drag queens and art and real estate porn (and real porn) and celebrity gossip and Trump outage and hot guys! As I’ve said before, I know Wow’s founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato for four decades now and I couldn’t be more proud or happy for all their professional, as well as their personal success (both are proud papas with two kids each). They continue to kill it with hit TV shows, documentaries, Wow Presents Plus, DragCon NYC & LA, weekly Radio Andy broadcasts with the fab Tom Campbell and James St. James and on and on…
Way back when (BT. Before Trump) my first post was titled:
DOMA’s Doomed… but We’ve Got Hope!
BY TREY SPEEGLE ON JUNE 26, 2013
“Well, it’s not news by now, but I still couldn’t be more thrilled to report, as today was to be the first post of mine for the WOW Report, that I have some good news to start with… REALLY good news.
The Supreme Court overturned DOMA!
Where do you go for a visual for such good news, if not a rainbow flag waving in front of The Monster? Across the street to the Stonewall Inn, natch. Across the street to the Stonewall Inn, natch. Just now, every news organization you can think of (didn’t see FOX, come to think of it?) had their cameras pointed at the venerable old façade, now a historic landmark. On the (high) heels of Gay Pride here in New York City, and just two days shy of the 44th anniversary of the Stonewall riots…”
Today I posted amazing pictures from WOWlebrity photographer, Ruben Natal-San Miguel of the NYC Pride Parade and I couldn’t be prouder. Really. We’ve come a long way baby, but the last two years have been a wake-up call that we’ve got a lot further to go.
