Another day, another maddening bathroom brouhaha. Just a few hours after Oklahoma legislators declared “a bathroom emergency” (!!!!!), state senators introduced a resolution that calls on Congress to impeach President Obama, the attorney general, and secretary of education (who last week authored a letter directing schools to allow transgender students to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity).
“Oklahomans are simply not going to stand for this utter nonsense,” Rep. John Bennett (R), one of the resolution’s authors, said in a statement. “Our phones and emails are being flooded by citizens who are enraged by this President’s attempt to use our children as pawns in a liberal agenda.”
“This directive is Biblically wrong, a violation of our state’s sovereignty and it is a serious public safety issue,” he added.
Because the Bible, of course, had so much to say about policing public bathrooms.
The bill, introduced last night, could force schools into costly construction, which would be difficult for them to complete after – SURPRISE! – those same Republican lawmakers significantly cut education funding to plug a $1.3 billion state budget shortfall. Lawmakers in the socially conservative state are also expected to take up a measure as early as tomorrow.
Buncha fucking stunt queens, man. I cannot WAIT for this election cycle to be over.
These are the twits responsible for bill, below. (via HuffPo)
