Yesterday I had to brave an early morning ferry departure from Fire Island and then the simmering heat and humidity of the city, but after participating in so many marches and protests against Prop 8 there was no way I was going to miss the rally celebrating Judge Vaughn Walker’s historic ruling declaring Prop 8 unconstitutional. I was happy to find that even though there had been less than a day to organize, the rally was still attended by a robust crowd. I managed to get get some quick one-on-one time with gay rights champion, Senator Tom Duane, as well as the New York City Council Speaker, Christine Quinn. Blogger Joe Jervis of JoeMyGod was in attendance, as was the handsome LGBT liaison to the New York City Council, Erik Bottcher, and Rainbow Flag creator Gilbert Baker. The fight isn’t over but yesterday’s ruling was historic and the celebratory rally was well worth the trip. (Click on photo to begin slide show. All photos by AGuyNamedWayne)
