Jaden Smith was revealed as the new face of Louis Vuitton womenswear on artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière’s Instagram account over the weekend. Shots from the fashion brand’s spring/summer 2016 campaign show Smith with a leather jacket over a fringed top paired with a black-and-white print skirt. For Jaden wearing skirts and dresses is no big thing. He’s posted shots on his Instagram before with the caption;
“Went To TopShop To Buy Some Girl Clothes, I Mean ‘Clothes.’”
The 17-year-old has gained huge popularity on social media with his unique tweets and images. In March, his representatives felt the need to step in to deny he is gay, after he tweeted his love for rapper Tyler the Creator.
Smith who has his parent’s –Will & Jada– bluster and bravado compared himself to genius Albert Einstein, style-wise anyway told Billboard recently;
“Einstein didn’t really like to change clothes because he had too much other stuff to worry about and I’m the same. All black is pretty much my go-to look. If somebody is just wearing something for the blogs, that’s really sad because they’re not living for themselves, versus someone wearing a kimono who’s having an awesome time. I really look to see, do you care more about what other people think, or are you having fun?”
OK, kid. We like the look and we’re sure, marketing-wise, you and Vuitton both know what you’re doing. Maybe sometime in the near future, a boy in skirt, isn’t even news.
