Sir Elton John officially came out as a bisexual in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine in 1976, before he went on to marry Renate Blauel in 1984. It wasn’t until 1988, when he was asked the same question by the same magazine, that he said he was”comfortable being gay.” When questioned why he waited so long, his answer was simple: No one had asked him. He told Matt Lauer that he said, “I’ve been waiting for people to ask me this. It’s not exactly a secret. I live with my manager. I’m openly gay outside. I don’t have a girlfriend. I just thought it was common knowledge.” Sparkly glasses and platforms? Yes, please. (Photo: Pacific Coast News)
