Right-wing cable news channel Newsmax dedicated a segment on Friday night to attack Biden’s 12-year-old German Shepherd.
Host Greg Kelly claimed he is a dog lover, but he all but called Champ ugly in a bizarre segment that seemed designed to criticize what he had decided was the lack of care the aging dog was getting at the White House.
“Did you see the dog? Doesn’t he look a little, uh, a little rough?
I love dogs, but this dog needs a bath and a comb and all kinds of love and care. I’ve never seen a dog in the White House like this.”
Kelly thought Champ didn’t measure up to Buddy (the Clinton’s dog) or Millie (George W. Bush’s dog) not mentioning the Obama’s dogs.
He nerglected to mention Major, who is the first rescue dog to live in the White House,
“I remember Buddy. I remember Millie. I remember lots of dogs but not a dog who seems—I don’t know. I don’t know how much love and care he is getting.
This dog looks like, I’m sorry, from the junkyard.”
If one guy going off on an old dog wasn’t weird enough, he got one of his guests to join him in the trashing.
Presidential historian Craig Shirley –I asked you not to call me Shirley– said Champ,
“looks very dirty and disheveled, very unlike a presidential dog.”
No mentioned of Ted Cruz‘s neglected pup, Snowflake of course. That’s a GOP pooch.
Needless to say, Twitter was NOT amused… they punched back.
Watch.

@CraigSmpa embarrassed himself and seriously tarnished his own professional reputation by allowing himself to be pulled into @newsmax frivolous discussion about the appearance of a dog.
