Omg, I don’t know how I’m six days behind on this. How could I have been so lapse? Thank God, though. It couldn’t have come at a better time, as I am SICK TO DEATH of my “Baby” ringtone. Freakin’ ALL NIGHT LONG with the “baby, baby, oooooooh, baby, baby noooooo,” until I’m SERIOUSLY RECONSIDERING this whole “Bieber fever” thing. Anyway, “Never Let You Go” is Justin’s “Telephone.” Quite simply, it’s A MASTERPIECE. Darker than “Baby.” Slightly more ambitious. But not quite as catchy. Shot at the Atlantis Resorts in the Bahamas, it features all the usual boyband tropes (standing on a cliff overlooking the sea, lots of windswept hair, grabbing at the sky, a few Christ-like poses with arms spread, you know the drill). But see, THIS TIME he adds a twitchy little hop/skip/hiccup thing as he walks in the beginning. SO IT’S TOTALLY DIFFERENT. And I love that he sings “this life’s too long and this love’s too strong, so baby know for sure that I’ll never let you go.” Because he’s 16! How does HE know how long life is? Anyway, I hear that today he is already hard at work on his NEXT music video, “Eenie Meenie” with Sean Kingston, being shot in Beverly Hills. If you are around there today and you see it, PLEASE email me with phone pics etc.
