Old pal Linda Simpson (or Les Simpson, your call) wrote to me yesterday: “You might be interested in a new photography exhibit that I’ m part of at ClampArt Gallery in Chelsea called ‘New York C. 1985.’ I have about 50 photos included in a slideshow. You can see some here. I was in NYC for practically the entire 1980s, and throughout the decade I randomly took photos for fun with basic point-and-shoot cameras. I was mostly just bouncing around, absorbing and observing the city. The photos are of friends of mine; after-dark events, celebrities that I shot at various encounters, ACT UP protests, Wigstock in Tompkins Square Park, etc (You’ll definitely recognize and remember some of the people and places!). My photo credit in the show is Les Simpson, because I took most of the pix before Linda was born! The exhibit also features work by Larry Clark, Nan Goldin, Amy Arbus and other great photographers — It’s a real honor for me to be included!”
