There’s a new sheriff in town! Charmaine McGuffey beat her former boss Jim Neil in the primary, and just beat opponent Bruce Hoffbauer to win the job. Neil had fired her in 2017, and she says part of the reason was that she is gay, according to pending federal litigation.
She’s now sheriff-elect for Hamilton County, Ohio, which includes Cincinnati. Via People:
I’ve never been an insider. I wasn’t just a woman working in law enforcement, I was a gay woman. That made me a target. A threat. But overcoming the impossible, well, that’s what I’ve done my entire life.
McGuffey and wife Christine Sandusky live in downtown Cincinnati. Congrats!
