Variety is reporting today that my Emmy-winning bae Rami Malek (Mr Robot) is attached to play Freddie Mercury in long-talked about biopic Bohemian Rhapsody from GK Films with Bryan Singer in talks to direct. Singer confirmed the news on Instagram with a photo of the group confirming his involvement as well as Malek’s (see below).
This is definitely a step up from the version where Sacha Baron Cohen was set to play Freddie (remember? Ugh). Rami has the look AND the dramatic chops to make this an Oscar contender. That, and I can’t WAIT to get him in those leather chaps and grow out a big, handlebar porn ‘stache. I wonder if he’ll do his own singing? And those really raunchy ’70s-era gay sex scenes? The mind reels…
