Monét X Change & Courtney Act are in new West End play: Death Drop – A Dragatha Christie Murder Mystery.
It opens today, December 4 in London. Written by Holly Stars and based on an idea by TuckShop‘s creative director and producer Christopher D. Clegg, the production features an all-drag cast including Holly Stars, Kemah Bob, LoUis CYfer, Anna Phylactic and Vinegar Strokes.
Set in 1991 on the fictional Tuck Island, Death Drop follows the guests of a dinner party as their sordid pasts are revealed —and a murder is solved!
Monét & Courtney talked to Pink News about it. Monét said,
“I love how camp it is. I just love camp by nature.
I think it is an art form that isn’t revered as much it should be, because it takes a certain artist to bring a level of camp to life and to give it an irreverent quality.”
“Act Two… my first line is: ‘What do you think?’
We’ve had a lot of a lot to think about in 2020 and this show is just about suspending disbelief and having a good night out at a socially distanced theatre. We’ve done everything that we can to make sure that everybody is safe.
I’m looking forward to just being in a theatre and doing a show that’s not deep, not meaningful, just fun.”
And Monét is planning her first outing when she returns from the UK,
“I plan on sitting right outside Trump Tower with a fucking bullhorn, a megaphone, and just screaming at the top of my lungs…”
Oh my God. I am so excited – as as much as the whole world is excited… the whole world needs a change, and it’s gonna be amazing.
It was really dark for a while and I think a lot of people we did not see light at the end of the tunnel, we thought this will never be done, this presidency that was four years felt like 400 years. I think the whole earth had a collective sigh.
Let’s get him out, and let’s get Biden in and let’s make real change, positive change for everyone.”
Death Drop runs through January 17 at the Garrick Theatre in London, with a reduced capacity to comply with COVID-19 guidelines.
