It was a dream come true for season 7 legend-in-the-making Miss Fame when she was asked to be the brand ambassador for L’Oréal Paris at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
“I am using myself as my own canvas,” she says in this mini behind-the-scenes documentary. “Using Miss Fame as my vessel… and that to me is a beauty with no boundary. Regardless of my gender. “
The honor, though, took her by surprise.
“I’m not used to respect at this level,” she says to the camera. “When you’re a man dressed as a woman, people expect you to be a comedian. They have expectations of what you are because of industry standards.”
Of the actual experience of walking the red carpet in Cannes:
“My physical body was there and the actions were happening, but it was like I was living in a dream. I couldn’t comprehend it, because it was the first of its kind. It was like: Miss Fame, the drag queen, is here being a part of an experience that has never happened before. [And] the dress was immaculate, the team worked it out. I’m so grateful to that. L’Oreal, the styling team, and everybody was just so present… Once the dress went on, walking through the halls before departure, everything was just magical. The photos, the video, the waltz around the room, it was all just so well-received.”
