Using iconic lyrics of some of her greatest hits, Miley Cyrus is teasing new music “Used to Be Young,” a bit of news first put forth by superfans.
Among the lyrics quoted:
- “I hopped off the plane at LAX”
- “I came in Like a wrecking ball”
- “I can almost see it that dream I’m dreaming”
- “I can buy myself flowers”
Cyrus posted a video along with lyrics that include a line from one poster: “I know I used to be crazy. I know I used to be fun. You say I used to be wild. I say I used to be young.”

Miley also teased a song seemingly called “Used to Be Young” while speaking with British Vogue back in May. The outlet noted that she wanted to release it “soon.” They also included some of the lyrics: “I know I used to be crazy / I know I used to be fun / You say I used to be wild / I say I used to be young.”
Based on what she said in the interview, the song was seemingly inspired by a track that was presented to her by a writer. “It was like, you know, the standard f-cked up in the club track. And I was like, ‘I’m two years sober. That’s not where I spend my time, you know. You’re more likely to catch me and my friends literally walking through rose gardens or going to a museum,’” she recalled. “It’s not about being self-serious. I’m just evolved.”
The whole vibe definitely feels like a great new direction. Hard to believe it’s almost the 10-year anniversary of Bangerz, which is being reissued on limited vinyl next month.
