
The B-52s just announced a world tour happening on the band’s 40th anniversary. The 40+ dates includes a North American summer tour with European dates and festival appearances. OMD and Berlin will serve as support on select dates.
The tour kicks off on in a few weeks in West Palm Beach, Florida at Sunfest and following dates throughout Europe in June and July, they head stateside, starting in the West Coast and wrapping up on September 24th in at Summerstage in Central Park in NYC.
Kate Pierson said in a statement,
“Who knew that when we played our first house dance party in Athens, Georgia in 1976 that we would be still be rocking the house in 2019. Visiting over 10 countries to perform for our fans around the globe makes us so incredibly happy,”
Cindy Wilson added,
“Let’s rock!
Fred Schneider said,
“Woo-hoo! Europe and then all over North America! Dust off those go-go boots and shine your dancing shoes because the B-52s are coming!”
Da Capo Press/Hachette Books is publishing theofficial history of the band, due next year and the Bs have also teamed up with Fred Armisen and director Craig Johnson to develop an upcoming documentary.
I’ve know these guys for decades and have probably seen them 20+ times. I have no inside info, but something tells me, this might be the last big tour. Check out the schedule, they’re going ALL OVER, they are bound to be near you.
