Melania is reportedly ignoring her husband’s impeachment (the second annual!) and is seething over the recognition the new First Lady is getting.
A source close to Mrs. Trump told CNN,
“She goes to the spa, has lunch, goes to the spa (again), and has dinner with Donald on the patio. Rinse and repeat. Every day.”
In the evenings, Melania often having dinner with her parents, who are also staying at Mar-A-Lago.
According to a CNN source, about Mrs. Trump’s activities are,
“pretty much the same as it was before (she was first lady) or even when she would come down during vacations.”
A former White House official said:
“Once (the insurrection) happened, she knew there was nothing to gain for her by speaking out or doing something… so she didn’t do anything.”
Having left DC with one of the worst approval ratings for any modern third, uh, I mean first lady, Melania has been “bitter and chilly” toward her husband, angry that his attempts to overturn the election may have tarnished her image.
Annoyed at the attention given to her successor, Melania noticed how Jill Biden started her term as first lady, first of all by immediately moving into the White House. (How dare she!?)
Biden quickly built up a significant staff, appears in various media outlets with and without President Biden, expressing sympathy for parents dealing with homeschooling their children during the pandemic. She was featured in a televised message before the Super Bowl.
But Melania could have behaved like a first lady but chose to go her own way. She never once did an interview with a national outlet during her time as FLOTUS.
A senior advisor to Mrs. Trump during the first few months of her tenure, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff told CNN that,
“Donald was more upset about Melania not getting magazine covers than Melania was”.
Melania intentionally didn’t do press as a defence mechanism. She and I would always discuss this reasoning and that’s why everything was choreographed or emailed, or be ‘approved’ quotes or statements that I would often write.”
Melania is now said to be is now second-guessing her private media strategy, blaming her former staffers, magazine editors, and companies who didn’t work with her because of her husband’s inflammatory behaviour.
Another source told CNN that it was “unfair” but “typical” of Melania “to blame everyone else”.
“Everyone knows Melania Trump does what she wants when she wants, and not one staffer on her team could have done anything to change that.”
Paul Rudnick weighed in on Melania’s current state of mind.
Melania is reportedly angry over the warm reception for Jill Biden, asking, "So she's a compassionate human being: what's that about? I was chilly and nasty – are those bad things? I wore capes and boots, wasn't that enough? Here I am, smiling with my hair – it's called smairing" pic.twitter.com/IxyM5ilDfB— Paul Rudnick (@PaulRudnickNY) February 12, 2021
