Back in the ’80s and ’90s, Marika Gerrard and Zoey Tur (then a husband-and-wife journalist duo) captured some of the Los Angeles’ most riveting breaking news stories (the O.J. Simpson pursuit and the 1992 riots) in a whirling news helicopter.
In the new documentary, Whirlybird, which is directed by Matt Yoka and executive produced by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, we learn about the story behind their careers, the measures they took to capture an unfolding story, the strain it took on their relationship, and the major life transition Zoey undertook.
