Back in the day…
It’s been rumored that a reunion has been in the works, but it took food to get them back together. The members of ABBA reunited last night to celebrate the opening of a new themed restaurant in Stockholm, Sweden. The group’s four members — Björn Ulvaeus, 70, Benny Andersson, 69, Agnetha Fältskog, 65, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, 70 — made the super-rare joint appearance for the launch of Ulvaeus’ new dining experience, Mamma Mia! The Party.
At the themed restaurant musicians and actors interact with waiters and guests with the Greek-island setting from the Mamma Mia! musical and movie. Fans of the group can sing along to the their hits but according to Andersson, they shouldn’t expect the group itself to reunite on stage again.
“I don’t think so.”
The foursome rose to superstardom in the ’70s only to break up in ’82 after the two couples in the group divorced. This opening marked the first time that the foursome have made a joint public appearance since the 2008 film premieres for Mamma Mia! in London and Stockholm.
So that reunion seems like a pipe dream. This would have been the perfect time to announce it. So in the meantime, for throwback Thursday, a little vintage ABBA. Watch.
