Anderson Cooper’s mum, the incomparable society beauty, the last of Truman Capote’s swans, the “poor little rich girl” the phrase derives from, the scandal-plagued heiress to one of the world’s greatest fortunes, the designer jeans mogul, the brilliant author, the one and only Gloria Fuckin Vanderbilt, descended from Mt Olympus yesterday to join Andy on his new talk show. They giggled and talked about men (her lovers, not his) before the conversation turned serious and she opened up about the suicide of her youngest son, Anderson’s brother, Carter Cooper. And while powerful and moving, I find myself just listening more to that curious upper-crusty cadence of hers and the lovely way she forms her vowels, than the actual story (which I think is somewhat unseemly of her to trot out on daytime TV. Ratings be damned, Anderson). (via Daily Mail)
