In drag legend Jackie Beat‘s blog Jackie Beat Rules! of August 1, she reproduces in full the MySpace exchange she had with a 15-year-old girl named Stephanie from Bartlesville, Oklahoma. And we reproduce it for you here:
Dear Jackie Beat,
Have you ever party’d with Michael Alig, James St. James or Amanda Lapore?
I know James and Amanda and I’m sure at some point I met Michael Alig, but PLEASE do not forget that Michael Alig is a MURDERER. The young man he killed was not just a drug dealing “freak”, he was someone’s son and brother — someone’s best friend. Fuck this glamorization of brutality.
I know it’s the fact that he killed someone, but it’s like (for me) I’d still want to meet him just because of the legends, glamour, and fabulocity. Even if it was an exchange of a few words. I’ve sent James a letter. But sadly he hasn’t replied. I want to send you a letter, too. Among others I can’t wait until you guys come to Oklahoma (hopefully you do!) so that I may see you guys in concert! You have no idea how appreciative I would be. Or even if it was Kansas. You are such a gorgeous woman.
It’s important to appreciate beauty and glamour, but as far as I am concerned the moment someone kills another person, pours Draino down their throat, saws their legs off and throws them into a river it kind of cancels out anything fabulous they may have done in the past, no?
Ha ha, yes. You do have a point. I would be a little scared of him. How does James feel about it though? I read Disco Bloodbath, and near the end it kind of left some closer… But it’s like it was a cliff hanger. It never went into detail about how he felt about it. Just that it was weight off his shoulders. Is he different then the rumors are said to be? I’m just too excited talking to you! I practically scream each time.
You are obviously missing my point. Have a nice day, idiot.
