Lisa Marie Presley died of a small bowel obstruction.
According to a newly released report on the LA County Medical Examiner’s official website, Presley’s autopsy report says her condition is a common complication from bariatric surgery, a weight-loss procedure.
Drs. Michael A. Schick, Sarang Kashyap and Marcelle Meseeha wrote, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information that small bowel obstruction is a surgical emergency caused by mechanical blockage of the bowel.
The condition can stem from various diseases, but its leading cause is intra-abdominal adhesions, scar-like tissue in the abdomen that can cause organs to stick together.
Presley died at a LA hospital on Jan. 12 after a brief hospitalization for an apparent cardiac arrest. The autopsy report said she had been complaining of stomach pain earlier in the day.

According to TMZ, Dr. Terry Dubrow says weight loss surgery ultimately turned out to be a fatal decision for Lisa Marie, which resulted in tons of scar tissue that ultimately blocked her small intestine.
Ten days after her death, friends, family and fans of Presley gathered at her father, Elvis Presley‘s home, Graceland, to pay tribute to her. Her mother Priscilla spoke briefly at the service, reading some words prepared by one of Lisa Marie’s three surviving children,
I have no idea how to put my mother into words. Truth is, there are too many.
Lisa Marie Presley was an icon, a role model, a superhero to many people all over the world.”
Her father died at 42. Lisa Marie Presley was 54.
