Donald Trump‘s campaign haven’t yet confirmed whether the office was set up by the campaign itself or by a Republican group supporting the campaign, but according to the Orlando Sentinel, the presidential hopeful is opening several offices across Florida in an attempt to secure votes, with one set up across the street from Pulse nightclub.
It’s a questionable location considering Trump’s stance on LGBT rights – he previously claimed he would “strongly consider” overturning same-sex marriage in the US, and voiced support for North Carolina’s anti-LGBT law.
The the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. where 49 people lost their lives took place on a special night for the Latino community, who Trump has been accused of discriminating against throughout his presidential bid.
Just last week, Trump faced more criticism for attending an anti-gay Pastors and Pews conference, the American Renewal Project, along with Senator Marco Rubio, in Orlando. Joe Saunders, southern regional field director for the Human Rights Campaign and an Orlando resident, said Trump and Rubio showed their true colors by attending the gathering,
“The Pulse tragedy was the worst mass shooting in the history of the United States, and also the most violent and impactful and hateful crime against the LGBT community in history. The hatred that led to that violence is rooted in bigotry, and the organizers of the conference spread a message that dehumanizes and devalues LGBT people.“
And as if all THAT is not enough, his vows to protect the LGBT community are more hollow when considering his running mate is Indiana Governor Mike Pence, who has made a name for himself as a supporter of gay conversion therapy and a staunch opponent to LGBT rights.
