Not Alone is a short film created by political group Catholic Vote of folks that seem to have a big secret. Something that that could change their lives forever. They’re all against same-sex marriage.
“We’re here because we have something to say and we’re no longer afraid to say it.”
Over piano music, the group takes turns speaking out.
“It’s too important to me…
I know a lot of people who are gay. I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman.”
The struggle for them is NOT real. Marriage equality isn’t ruining straight lives, but this film treats it as though it is a real thing. One man in the film, says,
“Bigoted is a huge word that gets thrown around.”
Wonder why? It’s so absurd that it you take it as parody, it’s almost funny. Except that ultimately, you feel sad and sorry for these people using their religion to oppress those that they don’t even know. America was founded on religious freedom but also
“Liberty and justice for ALL.”
The film ends with,
“Speak truth with love.”
I wish it had ended with the question,
“What would Jesus do?”
The answer is, not this.
Watch.
