So, it’s a perfect fit that the late, style icon is the center of Supreme’s, new collection. The streetwear label is famous for its collaborations has released a capsule collection featuring images of one Mr. Leigh Bowery.
Bowery did a short stint at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology pursuing a fashion design degree before moving to London in 1980 where he became a nightlife scenster, known for channeling that his outré fashion acumen.
He still inspires today. See RuPaul’s Drag Race, any season. You can Bowery below in action on a Harrod‘s shopping spree in London, which at the time was as outrageous as you might imagine.
Bowery’s performances were dazzling, putting on landmark shows at Wigstock and other popular venue Susanne Bartsch‘s NYC parties. Supreme has attempted to commemorate the diva with a series of hoodies and shirts that anyone can dress sup or dress down in a personal Bowery homage.
A portion of proceeds from the range will benefit Visual AIDS, who assist ,artists living with HIV. Bowery died of complications related to AIDS in 1994.
