Logan Paul said on the latest episode of his Impaulsive Podcast that he had resolutions for the first three months of 2019. He explained in the video,
“So it’s male-only March. We’re gonna attempt to go gay for just one month.”
One of his three co-hosts on the show, Mike Majlak, said:
“For one month. And then swing… go back.”
Paul is one of YouTube‘s biggest stars with 18 million subscribers. (Some of these numbers came after he posted a video showing a dead body in Japan‘s Aokigahara forest, prompting mass outrage.)
But people were NOT having his “gay for a month” stunt,
“Being gay is not a choice nor a joke, you f**king t**t!”
“Yet another swing and a miss from @LoganPaul. You can’t just ‘go gay’ for a month for a laugh.”
“And for all the people defending this and saying it’s just a joke – even if it is, it’s tone-deaf and not funny.”
Others said he was just perpetuating a dangerous falsehood.
“Can we please stop perpetuating this myth that people CHOOSE to be gay.”
“Imagine being so socially unaware that you think it’s ok to ‘go gay for a month.’ I’m talking about you @LoganPaul.”
“There are so many reasons that this is not ok and I hope people realise that and don’t forgive you so quickly again. Trash.”
“Odious, attention-seeking, charisma-less little s**tehawk”
“Idiot… How does one go gay. You either are or you aren’t.”
And a different person summed up the general frustration with Paul’s comments, tweeting:
“The LGBT community goes through enough without logan paul trying to make a ‘challenge’ out of gay relationships.”
