Those who are growing up enjoying the hard-won rights of the LGBTQ community should not take the presumptive Democratic nominee marching for Gay Pride in NYC as a given. Many of us grew up with the Reagans in the White House during the AIDS crisis and the Bushs were not that progressive either. Bill Clinton had gay people in his cabinet and as trusted advisors but it was a very different time in the 90s. Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was seen as progress, believe it or not.

Our fabulous President Barack Obama and his gorgeous, stylish wife have been around a long 8 years so it’s easy to get complacent that the administration acknowledges and works for LGBT rights. With Donald Trump in the White House, you could see all of that roll back to please his ultra-conservative, anti-gay base.

So, take a minute to enjoy the pure JOY of last week’s Pride March in this video with the presumptive nominee marching along with us and our other allies. And in case you haven’t read it, check out Hillary Clinton‘s first-person support of and promise to our community. Let’s not take her for granted.
