Kyrsten Sinema, Democrat from Arizona, became the first openly bisexual person in the Senate, and Arizona’s first female senator. She is also the second openly LGBTQ person to assume office in the chamber, after Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.).
Sinema looked ultra-chic, in a pink faux-fur-trimmed coat with a polka-dot pink purse, with a gray faux fur stole for the ceremony. One Twitter user wrote,
“Kyrsten Sinema serving Elle Woods as she joins the Senate today is an energy we very much need to carry on through 2019.”
She also got in a little dig at homophobe VP Pence swearing her in. Asking where she should stand, she said looking the the spot where the spouse would go,
“Can we get a spouse? Just kidding. Just kidding.“
She also used a law book, not gate Bible to be sworn in with. As someone else said in Twitter,
“I feel represented.“
As usual, Paul Rudnick nails it.
Today alone Mike Pence has had to Google "bisexuality", "motherfucker", "Muslim", "does swearing someone in count as swearing", "images of Nick Ayers in a tshirt", "what about an inflatable wall like a bouncy castle", "Nancy Pelosi coat in men's sizes", and "can I impeach myself"

Homophobe Mike Pence had to swear in Kyrsten Sinema, the first out bisexual Senator in history, on a law book and not a bible. He seems uncomfortable and she’s having fun with it. This is everything. pic.twitter.com/1VxBsK1l0u

Kyrsten Sinema looks amazing today. I’m so happy and proud of her. The first elected woman to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate! 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/fbq8DuHZOq
