This is one of those bizarre stories that seem always to come from one of China’s rural provinces. This lamb, born with just two legs instead of the regulation four (vets blame chemical pollution), is being raised in the Shengdong province in eastern China by a sheep farmer who couldn’t bring herself to slaughter the woolly infant, and is raising it more or less as a pet. “After all,” said Cui Jinxiu, “half my profit is missing anyway.” She says the lamb doesn’t know he’s disabled; weighing only 11 pounds at birth, he stood up on his two feet and started nursing from his mother. Totally what we’d call “lambulatory,” the sheep follows Cui everywhere. (via Metro)
