Today in Unexpected Career Moves: Mother Monster just landed the new cover of Arthritis magazine. And that’s not #FakeNews, and it’s not an early April’s Fool joke, it’s the real deal. Which makes perfect sense, if you think about it. Gaga has always been open about her battles with chronic pain.
In 2013, she had to cancel part of the Born This Way Ball in order to get surgery.
“My injury was actually a lot worse than just a labral tear,” she told Woman’s Wear Daily [at the time]. “I had broken my hip. Nobody knew, and I haven’t even told the fans yet.”
“But when we got all the MRIs finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip,” Gaga continues. “I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage. The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement.” Since then she has kept fans updated via Instagram. The “Million Reasons” diva is still in chronic pain, but using natural remedies to keep it at bay. See the full cover below.
Congrats to Gaga for using her fame in unexpected ways to help others!
