We’re TWO DAYS away from the season 9 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race – CAN YOU FEEL THE THE AIR AROUND YOU BEGIN TO SHIMMER? – and Mama Ru has dropped a new episode of the always brilliant “What’s The Tee?” podcast with co-host Michelle Visage. Of course, we’d listen to it if they just read from the phone book – but this week is special. VERY SPECIAL. This week we have the ever-iconic Lady Gaga popping in to talk about, oh, fame, lasting success, pre-fame friendships, security, the underground club scene, and how it feels to have paparazzi in your face 24/7.
“I used to really shut down, get emotional, run to my car and cry, hold my security guard and weep in the arms of people that I didn’t even maybe know that well…I really had a hard time,” she explained of the early days of fame. And now? “90%, I don’t give a shit if somebody’s got a camera in my face when I go to the grocery store.”
Listen below — Gaga arrives at the 53 minute mark (she was stuck in traffic).
And don’t forget, RDR season 9 begins Friday, March 24 8PM on VH1
