Sony’s upcoming biopic about Cleopatra is being touted by producers as a “dirty, bloody political thriller told from a feminist perspective.”

And while it seems like Angelina Jolie has been attached to the project FOR YEARS, Lady Gaga‘s sudden new clout in the movie biz means that she is poised to snatch the role from Jolie.

According to The Daily Star, it is now an ALL-OUT WAR between the two celebs, as they each vie  for one of the biggest title roles of all time in the mega-budget film reboot.

According to a source at Sony, it could be so close between Angelina, left, and Gaga that “both of them will have to audition – a pretty rare ask of an A-list star.”

Gasp! Can you imagine? An actress having to audition for a role? THE NERVE!

Anyway.

What do you think? Who would be better for the role? While Jolie fits the typical Hollywood version (think Vivian Leigh and Elizabeth Taylor), Gaga is probably a closer match with the historical version (who was likely of Macedonian Greek decent).
