Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s new “vintage” Rap vs Rock tees are a line introduced by the sisters as part of their latest Kendall + Kylie collection. The T-shirts are a limited edition capsule collection that will sell for $125 each.
The shirts feature photos of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Metallica, Pink Floyd and the late Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac with “K.K.” initials overprinted. One features Kendall’s Instagram pic over a photo of Biggie and his mom, Voletta Wallace, was NOT too happy about it and took to Instagram to tell them,
“I am not sure who told @kyliejenner and @kendalljenner that they had the right to do this. The disrespect of these girls to not even reach out to me or anyone connected to the estate baffles me. I have no idea why they feel they can exploit the deaths of 2pac and my Son Christopher to sell a t-shirt. This is disrespectful, disgusting, and exploitation at its worst!!!”
Kendall apologized on Twitter for herself and her sister.
“These designs were not well thought out and we deeply apologize to anyone that has been upset and/or offended, especially to the families of the artists. We are huge fans of their music and it was not our intention to disrespect these cultural icons in anyway. The tee shirts have been pulled from retail and all images have been removed. We will use this as an opportunity to learn from theses mistakes, and again we are very sorry.”
Kendal ha posted a pic of Biggie in April that got a lot of comments after the tee controversy. And Twitter was quick to react too, with Sharon Osbourne, a bonafide rock star wife/manager chiming in,
“Girls, you haven’t earned the right to put your face with musical icons. Stick to what you know…lip gloss.”
Ouch. Ya burnt! What do you think? Are the Jenner girls being disrespectful and trying to cash in on others’ fame or are they just paying homage to their rock and rap heroes? Tell us on Facebook?
