Back in the ’80s Michael Musto and I would go to Marie’s Crisis, a piano bar in the West Village, and sing show tunes after clubbing all night. The piano player would ask if there were any requests. Michael would shout out: “Rose’s Turn!” from Gypsy. The piano player would politely ignore him, and again ask: “Any requests?” Michael would shout out “Rose’s Turn!” again. This went on and on until the piano player finally relented and let Michael sing the damn song. Apparently piano players HATE to play “Rose’s Turn.” It’s one of the most difficult songs of all time to sing or to play. Kurt from Glee, however, knocked it out of the ballpark on last night’s episode. Unfortunately, due to a Hulu problem, you have to watch this mirrored version on Youtube. Don’t get confused by the backward Kurt. Just concentrate on his powerhouse performance. (via Towleroad)
