Today’s word of the day is: “Dotard.” As in “Donald Trump is a dangerous dotard.” It means: A “person in his or her dotage,” with “dotage” further defined as “a state or period of senile decay marked by decline of mental poise and alertness.”
It’s brought to you by North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jon Un who used it in a rebuttal to our president (who called HIM a “Rocket Man”). I suppose it’s all tit for tat, as the two madmen continue to ramp up tensions between our countries, leading, probably, to a fiery apocalypse. But in the meantime, hey, at least we’re learning new words for Scrabble!
“I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged dotard with fire,” Kim said in a statement released by the North Korean government Thursday.
The original translation used the term “old beast lunatic,” but it was later translated as “dotard” in the English version released by North Korea.
The word immediately began trending on Twitter, of course, of course. A few examples (via HuffPo) below.
