Kevin Spacey has landed an acting job. His first since multiple charges of sexual misconduct virtually ended his career nearly 3 years ago.
Spacey has been cast in the role of a police inspector in the Italian film L’uomo Che Disegnò Dio (The Man Who Drew God) for actor/director Franco Nero, who’s wife is Oscar-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave. Both will star opposite Spacey, along with veteran character actor Robert Davi.
Spacey’s character in the film is investigating a man wrongly accused of molesting children. It will mark his first movie since 2018 following multiple accusations of sexual misconduct. IMDB summarizes it as,
“The rise and fall of a blind artist who has the extraordinary gift of making true-to-life portraits just by listening to human voices, and of becoming a TV-junk star. A fable on the need to rediscover the miraculous power of dignity in a world where media’s noise has solved the problem of man’s imperfection simply by removing the problem itself.”
Accuser, Mark Ebenhoch commented on the casting to TMZ,
“What the hell?”
He called the casting “absurd” in light of the film’s subject matter and said that he hopes producers will rethink his casting. Ebenhoch claims Spacey harassed him on the set of the movie Outbreak, soliciting him for sex.
In total, fifteen men have accused Spacey of misconduct ranging from groping to attempted rape.
Several accusers were also underage at the time of their alleged interactions with the actor including Anthony Rapp who has launched a lawsuit against Spacey, actor/director Tony Montana, Harry Dreyfuss, son of actor Richard Dreyfuss, and actor Roberto Cavazos.
In 2019 a male masseur who was suing Spacey over allegations of sex abuse committed suicide.
That was the second time Spacey dodged a sex abuse lawsuit. A teenage busboy who accused Spacey of assault, stopped cooperating with prosecutors in 2019.
Spacey pleaded not guilty to felony indecent assault and battery in that case, and prosecutors eventually withdrew all charges. This is video of his arraignment in that case…
For the past few years, Spacey has posted bizarre Christmas videos as his character from House of Cards, Frank Underwood. Here is his 2020 message.
