White House counselor Kellyanne Conway just announced Sunday night she’ll leave her post in a week.
She said in a statement,
“I will be transitioning from the White House at the end of this month. George is also making changes.”
Her husband, George Conway, said at the same time that he was withdrawing from The Lincoln Project, also citing a need to focus on the family.
“We disagree about plenty but we are united on what matters most: the kids. Our four children are teens and ‘tweens starting a new academic year, in middle school and high school, remotely from home for at least a few months. As millions of parents nationwide know, kids ‘doing school from home’ requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times.”
If you say you didn’t see this coming, I’d be with you. But my post Saturday about their daughter Claudia seeking emancipation might haven been a big red flag. She tweeted Friday night,
“I’m officially pushing for emancipation. Buckle up because this is probably going to be public one way or another, unfortunately. Welcome to my life.”
Saturday’s tweet came alongside many more in which she penned her frustration over her mother’s work for the president, and over recent praise of her father, George Conway, for his work as co-founder of the Lincoln Project, a Republican anti-Trump group.
Conway has said that Trump is “guilty” of being unfit for the office of the president and called for Congress to remove the “cancer” of Trump from the presidency.
“As for my dad, politically, we agree on absolutely nothing. We just both happen to have common sense when it comes to our current president. Stop ‘stanning’ him.”
She added that her mother was “selfish” for pursuing her line of work.
“My mother’s job ruined my life to begin with.”
Kellyanne was scheduled to speak at this week’s Republican National Convention, but it’s not clear if she will now.
Trump slammed George Conway last year, labeling him “Mr. Kellyanne Conway” in a tweet.
Earlier Sunday, George Conway had said in a tweet thread,
“I *may* be taking a Twitter hiatus soon”
But, Kellyanne Conway hasn’t exactly denounced the Republican Party or Trump and said,
“The incredible men, women and children we’ve met along the way have reaffirmed my later-in-life experience that public service can be meaningful and consequential.
For all of its political differences and cultural cleavages, this is a beautiful country filled with amazing people. The promise of America belongs to us all.”
“In time, I will announce future plans. For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama.”
All hell must have broken loose in the Conway home this weekend. In a tweet Saturday night Claudia said,
“I’m a savage lol I’m aware.”
Brava, Claudia! We know this was your doing.

Here is my statement:https://t.co/MpYxVfrY2N
God Bless You All.
So I’m withdrawing from @ProjectLincoln to devote more time to family matters. And I’ll be taking a Twitter hiatus.— George Conway (@gtconway3d) August 24, 2020
Needless to say, I continue to support the Lincoln Project and its mission. Passionately.
#Update: Claudia reacts (and takes credit for) the news on TikTok…
“Look what I did! Look at what I did, ladies and gentlemen. Look at what I did…”
