More proof that he’s one of Hollywood’s true good guys…
In an interview about the filming of 1992’s Dracula, star Winona Ryder revealed that – during the filming of a scene in which she was supposed to believable cry – director Francis Ford Coppola stood off camera repeatedly shouting “You whore!” and other verbal abuses.
He also attempted to get the film’s male cast to join in, as well.
“To put it in context I’m supposed to be crying,” Ryder told The Sunday Times. “Literally, Richard E Grant, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu … Francis was trying to get all of them to yell things that would make me cry.
“But Keanu wouldn’t, Anthony wouldn’t … It just didn’t work. I was, like, really? It kind of did the opposite.”
Good for them.
Ryder went on to say that she and Coppola are “good now.
The experience also brought her and Reeves closer together. The two “life-long friends” have since worked together three more times since Dracula: in 2006’s A Scanner Darkly, 2009’s The Private Lives of Pippa Lee and 2018’s Destination Wedding.
