Jonathan Groff Headed Off-Broadway in a New Production of “Little Shop of Horrors” – But Will Drag Legend Vicky Vox Reprise Her Role as Audrey II?

By James St. James on July 22, 2019 4:42 pm

It was announced today that a new Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrorsis in the works starring cutie-patootie Jonathan Groff (Frozen, Hamilton, Spring Awakening) as Seymour (“SUDDENLY SEYMOUR, IS STANDING BESIDE ME…”), Tammy Blanchard as Audrey (“SOMEWHERE THAT’S GREEEEEEEEEN”), and Christian Borle as the evil dentist.

In an interview with The New York Times, Groff explained why he’s so eager to be part of the new incarnation the beloved musical.

“It’s a scary, funny, genius show, and I’m excited to celebrate it…And to do it in that small space — it seems like an illegal amount of fun.”

Yes it does.

Of course that leaves the big question: Will drag legend Vicky Vox reprise her starmaking role as the man-eating plant Audrey II? She absolutely slayed audiences when she played the role in London this last spring (see below). I mean: She definitely has the chops…. and the following (every queen in the COUNTRY would make a pilgrimage to see the show!). Just putting the idea out there for the Off-Broadway casting directors…

*fingers crossed*
