A month ago, John Krasinski started sharing Some Good News as an antidote to all the negative pandemic-related news out there. After just 14 episodes and a massive bidding war, he has sold the show to ViacomCBS.
John will executive produce with longtime producing partner Allyson Seeger but will no longer host, citing prior commitments. He told Deadline: “From the first episode, our goal was to create a news show dedicated entirely to good news. Never did I expect to be joining the ranks of such a historic news organization as CBS.”
The show was hosted from John’s home and famously featured a reunion of the US cast of The Office, including Steve Carrell, Jenna Fisher, Angela Kinsey, Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, and more. It included a cavalcade of celebrity guests, including weather reports by Brad Pitt and Emma Stone, as well as cameos by John’s wife Emily Blunt.
