It’s the year 2031, and the passengers on the train Snowpiercer are the only survivors on Earth. The South Korean sci-fi action thriller (based on a French graphic novel) stars Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer, and cutie Luke Pasqualino. The film marks director Bong Joon-Ho’s English-language debut (approximately 80% of the film was shot in English). From IMDB: In a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off most life on the planet, a class system evolves aboard the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe via a perpetual-motion engine.

In recent months, this film has faced a storm of controversy after it was announced that Harvey Weinbstein wanted to cut twenty minutes of footage from the already WILDLY successful film (it beat Thor: The Dark World in France and recently nabbed Best Film, Best Director and Best Cinematography at the 33rd Korean Association of Film Critics Award) before its US release. Speaking at the Mar del Plata Film Festival this week, director Bong Joon-Ho announced that after much negotiation they will most likely be keeping the directors cut for the US release.
