Fresh off the heels of his sensational Selena Gomez tribute, the studly avatar of cool takes on Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.” But is there some nefarious ulterior motive to posting these videos? From Lainey Gossip: “Here’s the thing about how ‘arty’ James Franco has become: Even when he’s just messing around, you wonder if he’s actually just messing around, or whether or not, in a month or so, suddenly what was just a spell of silliness will become an installation somewhere, or an experimental album meant to challenge the boundaries. Franco keeps posting videos of himself singing along to pop songs. They’re actually kinda cute…if goofin’ is all it is. I want to believe that’s all it is. But somehow James Franco made everything have to mean something. And now it’s impossible to enjoy any of it without considering what it might mean. Or is the meta-ness of that is where he’d say the Art is?”
