Ivanka tweeted a bizarre endorsement of Goya late last night with a shot of her holding can of Goya Black Beans, with the company’s slogan,
“If it’s Goya, it has to be good.
Si es Goya, tiene que ser bueno.”
Last week, Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue said America was “blessed” to have Trump as president during a White House ceremony, which led to #goyaway trending on Twitter.
But, the Code of Federal Regulations states that employees
“shall not use or permit the use of his Government position or title or any authority associated with his public office to endorse any product”
In 2017 Kellyanne Conway urged Americans to buy Ivanka Trump-branded products but Conway did not face any disciplinary action, which drew sharp criticism from the Office of Government Ethics.
Walter Shaub, then director of the office, wrote:
“Disciplinary action serves to deter future misconduct. Not taking disciplinary action against a senior official under such circumstances risks undermining the ethics program.”
Ivanka Trump’s plug for Goya drew a quick condemnation on Twitter with memes of her endorsing everything from Mary Trump’s tell-all to Clorox…
