Dolly Parton just announced a reunion with her 9 to 5 co-stars, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.
Dolly is says she’s set to guest star with her former co-stars and real-world pals in an upcoming episode of the last season of Netflix’s longest running series, Grace and Frankie.
Parton revealed the news on the Brit talk show Lorraine,
“I’ve been trying to do Grace and Frankie for years.
We worked so well together on 9 to 5, it’s a crazy wonderful show. We’ve been trying to write me in somehow. So when it’s safe for us to actually do a production when they’re back, I’ll probably get around to doing that.”
Many Hollywood productions have been able to resume under strict safety guidelines, including having a COVID safety officer on set. Production on the seventh season of Grace and Frankie has been delayed several times due to the ongoing pandemic.
It is scheduled to begin again this June, by which time the entire production, including our national treasures, Dolly, Jane and Lily will have been vaccinated. These gals are hi-risk in their 70s and 80s.
Released in 1980, the iconic 9 to 5 is one of the most popular and successful comedies of all time with a a hit theme song by Dolly, a TV sitcom spinoff and Broadway musical.
A 9 to 5 sequel went into development in 2018, but was canceled the following year. Until that actually happens, Grace & Frankie will do nicely, thank you!
