And speaking of court, Court TV recently had a sidebar with itself and decided, effective January 1, to change its name to truTV, which lowercases truth and uppercases television, and would seem to put more weight on the entertainment side of the scales of justice. But since TV lawyer Star Jones, who will be getting her own talk show on the network, has lost so much weight, perhaps she evens things out. TruTV (the New York Times won’t lowercase anything, especially at the start of a sentence, e. e. cummings and k. d. lang be damned) will still be featuring courtroom coverage from 9AM to 3PM, but after that it will air its Forensic Files and Haunting Evidence shows and add new series about tornado chasers, con artists, life-or-death rescues, and – ahem – a series on female bounty hunters in Miami. “In truTV, we now have the ideal name that fits both the programming and the target audience,” said Court TV’s general manager Marc Juris, inexplicably. It’s really more about the snappy logo, we suspect. (Source)
